How do I know if these will fit under my fitted sheet or mattress pad?

The bumpers stay in place best when placed directly on top of the mattress and all other bedding goes over top. Deep pocket fitted sheets work best with Magic Bumpers by providing more slack to accommodate the bumper.  Inexpensive fitted sheet clips are available at bedding stores and will help to hold your fitted sheet in place. In most cases, your current sheet will work properly without any additional adjustments. Place the bumper at least 3 inches in from the edge of the mattress or more than 3 inches if you have tight fitting sheets. The more bumpers you use in the bed, the more slack you will need from your fitted sheet or mattress pad.

Can I purchase a cover for the Magic Bumpers?

One of the best features of the Magic Bumpers is that they stay in place due to the surface "grab" of the foam.  Placing a cover over the foam may cause some movement or slipping to occur.  Since you are already "covering" the foam with your fitted sheet or mattress pad, there is really no need to cover it again.

My child is a wild sleeper, will this keep him in bed?

Magic Bumpers are effective for wild or active sleepers. Several customers have mentioned that their restless children sleep more soundly with Magic Bumpers. There are a small number of children that could not be contained with the bumper.

Can I use Magic Bumpers in a toddler bed?

Yes. For Toddler Beds that use crib mattresses and sheets, a better quality crib sheet will allow enough room for the Magic Bumpers to go under. Magic Bumpers can slide around a bit on a vinyl covered mattress. You may apply a sticky-backed felt sheet to the vinyl mattress under the bumper to keep it from slipping. Magic Bumpers not for use in a crib unless it has been converted for a toddler.

How can I cut the Magic Bumpers to a different size?

An electric knife will cleanly slice through polyurethane foam. Save the cut-off piece in case you ever need the full size again. The cut pieces can be placed side by side and work as well as they did before they were cut.

Is there a longer length available?

No, but you may place multiple 24 inch (60cm) pieces in a straight line row to create the length you need.

How do these work in traveling?

They are very lightweight - less than 2 lbs. (1 kg) for two bed rails (equal to a Magic Bumper 4 pack). The foam may be vacuum packed for travel. When possible, avoid repeated extreme compression of foam.

What are the fire retardant chemicals used in the foam?

The fire retardant in this foam is Firemaster 550 which meets California standards and is PBDE free.

Does the foam require special care?

The foam can be cleaned with an adhesive lint roller or damp soapy cloth. Do not let children play with Magic Bumpers since the foam is not covered, it can be damaged or a small child could bite off a piece of foam and potentially swallow it. When not in use store the foam uncompressed and away from direct sunlight which can cause drying and discoloration of the foam.
